I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.
Jesus spoke these words the night before He went to the cross. Think about that. He was talking about complete joy at the darkest moment of His life. That tells us something important: real joy does not depend on what is happening around us, but on Who we are connected to.
So how do we live this out today? It starts with staying close to Him. Just like a branch cannot bear fruit on its own, our joy dries up when we drift from Jesus. Spend a few minutes with Him this morning. Read a verse, say an honest prayer, and invite Him into your day before the busyness starts.
And when joy feels far away, do not chase it. Check your connection instead. Ask yourself if you have been carrying today's worries alone, then take one of them and hand it to God in plain words. Simple obedience, like forgiving someone or telling the truth when it costs you, keeps that channel open too.
Finally, remember that full joy is not meant to stay bottled up. Send an encouraging text, thank someone out loud, or tell a friend what God has done for you. Joy grows every time you give it away.
Father, thank You that Your joy is not something I have to work up on my own. Help me stay connected to You today, in the good moments and the hard ones. Fill me with a joy that lasts and overflows to the people around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
