Real love never stays hidden. When we love someone, it shows in how we treat them, what we prioritize, and what we're willing to do for them. Jesus ties love and obedience together because He knows our actions reveal what our hearts truly treasure.
Living this out starts with small, ordinary choices. It's telling the truth when a lie would be easier. It's forgiving the person who hurt you, being patient with your family, or refusing to cut corners at work even when no one is watching.
Notice that Jesus isn't asking us to obey in order to earn His love — He's inviting us to obey because we already have it. That changes everything. When obedience flows from love instead of fear or guilt, it stops feeling like a burden and starts feeling like a natural response.
So ask yourself a simple question today: is there one area of my life where I say I love Jesus but live like He never spoke? Pick that one thing. Take a small step of obedience today — not perfectly, but sincerely.
Dear Lord, thank You for loving me first. Help my love for You show up not just in my words, but in my choices today. Give me the courage to obey You in the small things. Amen.
