John 13:34

Jesus gave this command on His last night with His disciples, just hours before the cross. That timing matters. He wasn't asking for warm feelings or grand gestures. He was pointing to a love that is patient, humble, and willing to serve even when it costs something.

For most of us, this kind of love starts small. It looks like checking in on the friend who went quiet, really listening instead of rushing to give advice, or letting go of a small offense before it turns into bitterness. None of these things make headlines, but they are exactly how love becomes real.

It also means loving the people who are hard to love. The family member who pushes your buttons. The coworker who never says thank you. Jesus loved us at our worst, and that same grace is available through us when we ask for it.

So here is a simple challenge for today: pick one person and ask God to show you one concrete way to love them. A text, a meal, an apology, or just your undivided time. Love is not a feeling to wait for. It is a choice to act on, one small step at a time.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me first, even when I didn't deserve it. Help me love the people around me the way You love me, with patience, grace, and real action. Open my eyes today to one person who needs Your love through me. Amen.
