Jeremiah 9:23

We all have something we quietly lean on. For some, it's being the smartest person in the room. For others, it's physical strength, hard work, or a healthy savings account. None of these things are bad in themselves—but God gently warns us not to build our identity on them.

Here's the practical truth: wisdom can be outsmarted, strength fades, and money disappears faster than we expect. If your confidence rests on any of those, your peace will always be shaky. But when your confidence rests on God, you're standing on something that cannot be taken from you.

So try this today: when you accomplish something, pause and thank God instead of quietly patting yourself on the back. When someone compliments your skills or success, say a quick prayer of gratitude in your heart. It's a small habit, but it keeps pride from taking root.

And if you feel like you have little to boast about—no fancy degree, no big income, no impressive strength—take heart. God isn't impressed by our trophies anyway. He simply wants to be known by you, and that is worth more than anything else you could ever claim.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I've trusted my own abilities more than You. Help me hold my gifts loosely and find my worth in knowing You alone. Amen.
