Yahweh, I know that the way of man is not in himself. It is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
We love to feel in control. We make plans, set goals, and map out our lives like we can see every turn ahead. But if we're honest, we've all had moments where life went a direction we never saw coming. This verse gently reminds us that we were never meant to navigate alone.
Humility starts with admitting something simple: I don't know best. That's not self-hatred, it's honesty. The One who made you knows the road you're on, including the parts you can't see yet.
So how do you live this out today? Start small. Before you make your next decision, big or small, pause and ask God, "Which way should I go?" Before you open your email, open your heart. A one-minute surrender in the morning changes how you walk through the whole day.
This also changes how you handle detours. When a door closes or a plan falls apart, you don't have to panic or force your way forward. You can trust that the steps you couldn't direct are being directed by Someone who loves you.
Letting God lead isn't passivity. You still take steps, but you take them with Him instead of ahead of Him. That's where real peace lives, not in a perfect plan, but in a trusted Guide.
Father, I admit that I can't direct my own steps, and I stop pretending I can. Lead me today in the small choices and the big ones, and help me trust You when the path looks different than I expected. Amen.
