Everyone messes up. That is not an excuse, it is a reality we all live with. And if we are honest, most of our stumbles happen with our words: a sharp reply, a careless joke, a gossip-filled conversation, or a text sent in frustration. God is not surprised by this, but He does not want us to shrug it off either.

Here is the thing: our words are like the small rudder on a big ship. They seem tiny, but they steer the whole direction of our lives. If you want to know how pure your heart really is, listen to what comes out of your mouth on your worst day.

So try this today: pause before you speak. Take one breath and ask yourself, 'Will this help or hurt?' That applies to your conversations, your texts, your social media posts, and even the way you talk about people who are not in the room. A moment of restraint can save a month of regret.

And when you do slip up, and you will, do not hide it. Go quickly and apologize, both to God and to the person you hurt. Keeping short accounts keeps your heart soft and your relationships clean.

Father, You know every careless word I have spoken, and I bring them to You today. Help me pause before I speak and let my words carry grace instead of harm. Make my mouth an instrument of Your purity and peace. Amen.
