James 1:6

We all bring things to God, don't we? A health report that scared us, a child who's wandering, a bill we can't see how we'll pay. We pray about it in the morning, and then by lunchtime we've picked the whole burden back up and started carrying it again.

James says that kind of asking leaves us unstable, like a wave pushed one direction by the wind and another by the tide. Up one day, down the next. Not because we lack information, but because we're trying to trust God and our own worrying at the same time.

Faith doesn't mean pretending you have no questions. It means settling the biggest question first: is God good, and is He able? Once your heart lands there, the smaller unknowns stop getting to steer your day.

So here's a practical step for today. When you ask God for something, ask simply and expectantly, like a child talking to a good father. Then when doubt whispers that nothing will change, answer it out loud: you've already placed this in God's hands, and He is able. Write down your prayers and His answers, too, because remembering His past faithfulness steadies you when the wind picks up.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I've asked You for something and then carried the worry myself. Today I choose to bring my needs to You and leave them there, trusting that You hear me and You are able. Steady my heart when doubt rises, and anchor me in Your goodness. Amen.
