I will greatly rejoice in Yahweh! My soul will be joyful in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Have you noticed that some days joy feels easy and other days it feels impossible? The good news of this verse is that our deepest joy isn't tied to how our day is going. It's rooted in what God has already done for us. He dressed us in salvation and righteousness we could never earn or afford on our own.
Try making this personal when you get dressed each morning. As you put on your clothes, quietly thank God that He has already covered you with something far better. When guilt or shame whispers that you're not good enough, remind yourself that your standing with God rests on His gift, not your performance.
Joy also grows when we choose to express it. Sing along with worship in the car, smile at someone who looks discouraged, or thank God out loud for three small blessings today. These little habits train our hearts to notice what God has done instead of fixating on what's wrong.
Finally, don't keep this covering to yourself. Someone around you may be wrapped in shame today, and a simple word of encouragement could remind them that God offers the same robe to them. Wear your joy openly, because it points people straight to the One who gave it.
Dear Lord, thank You for clothing me with salvation and covering me with a righteousness I could never earn. Help me live today in the joy of that gift and let it spill over onto everyone I meet. In Jesus' name, Amen.
