They made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, Isaiah described exactly how He would die: numbered with criminals, buried in a rich man's tomb, completely innocent. And that is exactly what happened. Every detail came true, down to the borrowed grave of a wealthy man named Joseph. God does not make vague promises—He keeps them with precision.
That precision should give you confidence today. If God got every detail of the cross right centuries in advance, you can trust Him with the details of your life that feel uncertain right now. The job situation, the health report, the family struggle—none of it is too complicated for a God who fulfills promises to the letter.
But this verse also shows us something about how to live. Jesus had done no violence and no deceit was found in His mouth, yet He suffered unfairly. When you are wrongly accused, passed over, or mistreated, your instinct is to fight back or bend the truth to defend yourself. Jesus shows another way: stay honest, stay gentle, and leave the outcome to God.
So today, practice that in small things. Tell the truth even when a half-truth would be easier. Refuse to repay an insult with an insult. Integrity may cost you something in the moment, but a clear conscience before God is worth far more than a quick win.
Dear Lord, thank You for keeping every promise You have ever made, down to the smallest detail. Help me to trust You with the uncertainties in my life and to live with honesty and grace, even when I am treated unfairly. Keep deceit far from my mouth and let my life point others to You. Amen.
