Few hurts cut deeper than rejection. Being overlooked, misunderstood, or pushed aside can make us feel invisible and unloved. But Isaiah pointed ahead to a Savior who would know that exact pain. Jesus wasn't rejected by accident; He willingly walked through it for us.
Isaiah 53:3
Shared devotional content from the common study platform.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.
That means when you feel unwanted or disrespected, you don't have a Savior who shrugs at your hurt. You have One who has lived it. Bring those raw, honest feelings to Him today. He understands what it is like to be misjudged and dismissed by the very people He came to love.
This truth also challenges how we treat others. It is easy to avoid people who seem difficult, messy, or different. But if Jesus was willing to bear rejection for us, surely we can welcome the people everyone else passes over.
Ask God to help you see people the way He does. Maybe it is the coworker everyone avoids, the family member who is hard to love, or the neighbor nobody greets. One small act of welcome can reflect the heart of Christ to someone who feels forgotten.
Father, thank You that Jesus understands rejection because He lived it. Help me run to Him with my hurts instead of hiding them, and give me the courage to welcome those the world overlooks. In Jesus' name, Amen.
