Hebrews 8:12

God doesn't just put up with you after you mess up. He makes a deliberate choice to forgive completely and never bring your sins up again. His forgiveness isn't like ours, where we say we've moved on but quietly keep a mental file. When God looks at you, He sees His child, not your track record.

So why do so many of us live like we're still on trial? We replay old mistakes, drag up shameful memories at midnight, and treat guilt like a permanent roommate. But if God has closed the books on your past, you don't have to keep the ledger open.

Here's a practical step for today: when an old failure resurfaces in your mind, respond out loud or in your heart with truth. Remind yourself that the debt was already paid and that God has chosen not to hold it against you. This isn't pretending the sin never happened; it's agreeing with God about what He did with it.

This truth should also change how you treat other people. If the God of the universe refuses to keep bringing up your wrongs, you can stop keeping score with the people around you. Maybe someone in your life needs to be let off the hook today, the same way you've been let off the hook.

Dear Lord, thank You for a forgiveness that wipes my record completely clean. Help me stop digging up what You have already dealt with, and teach me to extend that same mercy to the people around me today. Amen.
