Hebrews 13:22

Let's be honest: not every part of God's Word feels comfortable. We love the verses that comfort us, but the ones that confront us? Those can sting. Yet the writer of Hebrews gently asks us to stay with the hard words instead of skipping past them.

That little word 'endure' carries a beautiful picture. It means to stay under something rather than run out from it. When Scripture points at something in our lives that needs to change, our first instinct is often to defend ourselves, change the subject, or close the Bible. Endurance means we stay a little longer.

So here's a practical challenge for today. The next time a sermon, a devotional, or an honest conversation with a friend hits a sore spot, pause before you brush it off. Ask God a simple question: 'Lord, is this something You're trying to show me?' Then give yourself permission to sit with the discomfort instead of escaping it.

Remember, God never confronts us to shame us. He tells us the truth because He loves us too much to leave us where we are. The words that sting the most are often the ones that heal us the deepest, if we'll just endure them.

Over time, this becomes a habit of the heart: a soft, teachable spirit that welcomes God's correction as a gift. That kind of endurance doesn't just get us through hard sermons. It shapes us into people who look more like Jesus.

Dear Lord, give me a soft heart that welcomes Your truth, even when it stings. Help me stay under Your Word instead of running from it, and trust that every correction comes from Your love. Thank You for caring enough to tell me the truth. Amen.
