Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.
Pride whispers that we can figure life out on our own, but faith takes a humbler path. When our souls get puffed up, we end up leaning on our own strength, our own understanding, and our own timing. Living by faith means leaning on God instead.
Habakkuk asked hard questions about injustice and confusion, and God's answer wasn't a full explanation. Instead, God invited him to trust. Sometimes we won't get all the answers either, but we can still hold on to the character of the One who does.
So what does this look like today? It looks like praying before you panic when the bills pile up or the diagnosis comes. It looks like obeying God in small things even when the big picture is unclear. It looks like choosing humility and admitting you need His help.
Faith is not a one-time decision but a daily rhythm, like breathing. Each morning is a fresh chance to say, 'Lord, I trust You with today.' Keep taking those small steps of trust, and you will find God faithful every single time.
Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I have leaned on my own strength instead of You. Today I choose to live by faith, trusting Your heart even when I cannot see Your hand. Help me take the next small step of trust. Amen.
