God gave Adam a boundary in the garden, and it can feel strange at first. Why would a loving God forbid something? But notice: He didn't surround the tree with a fence or hide it. He trusted Adam with a choice, because love always gives room to choose.
The real issue wasn't fruit or knowledge. It was who gets to define good and evil. Adam and Eve wanted to be their own judges, to decide for themselves what was right. And that same desire lives in every one of us when we say, "I know God's Word says this, but I think I know better."
So here is the practical question for today: whose definition of good are you living by? When Scripture calls something harmful, do you believe it, even when it looks attractive? When God's Word points you toward forgiveness, honesty, or purity, do you trust that He knows what He's doing?
Living this out means trusting God's boundaries as protection, not restriction. Every limit He sets flows from His love, not His desire to control you. Real wisdom doesn't come from chasing everything or deciding everything for yourself. It starts with a simple, daily choice to trust the One who made you.
Today, pick one area where you've been leaning on your own understanding. Maybe it's a relationship, a habit, or a decision you've been avoiding. Bring it under God's wisdom instead of your own, and watch how much peace follows obedience.
Father, forgive me for the times I've tried to be my own judge of what's right and wrong. Help me trust Your boundaries as gifts of love, not limits on my freedom. Teach me to walk in Your wisdom today. Amen.
