Ezekiel 39:24

There are few sadder pictures in Scripture than God hiding His face from His own people. Sin doesn't just break a rule—it breaks closeness. When impurity lingers in our lives, we often feel that distance ourselves, like our prayers hit the ceiling and God seems far away.

If you're feeling that distance today, don't rush past it. That quiet emptiness might be God's gentle way of asking you to look inward. Ask yourself honestly: is there something in my life I've been excusing—something I know doesn't belong in a heart that belongs to Him?

Purity isn't only about big, obvious sins. It's built in small daily choices: what you watch late at night, the jokes you laugh at, the resentment you nurse, the habits you keep hidden. Every small compromise slowly dulls your hunger for God, and every small yes to holiness sharpens it again.

Here's the hope: God's face may have been hidden, but His heart was never gone. He allowed the distance to wake His people up and draw them home. The same is true for you—confession isn't the end of your story; it's the doorway back into His smile.

Father, search my heart and show me anything that has pushed You to a distance. Give me the courage to turn from it and the grace to walk clean before You today. Thank You that Your face is never hidden from a heart that comes home. Amen.
