Right after rescuing His people from Egypt, God gave them a new name for Himself: the Lord who heals. Think about that. The first thing He wanted them to know about His character wasn't just power or majesty, but a deep, personal care for their well-being. He still feels the same about you today.
Notice the condition in this promise: listening. Not just hearing, but listening closely, the way you lean in when someone you love is speaking. Practically, that means making space in your day to actually hear from God, whether that's opening your Bible before your phone, or sitting quietly for a few minutes instead of filling every silence with noise.
God also connects healing to doing what is right in His eyes. Obedience isn't a magic formula, but it is a way of life that protects us. Choosing to forgive instead of holding a grudge, telling the truth when a lie would be easier, getting the rest your body needs, and letting go of worry are all simple, everyday acts of trusting God with your whole self, body and soul.
If you're waiting for healing right now, whether in your body, your mind, or a broken relationship, keep bringing it to Him. Pray, ask others to pray, take the practical steps available to you, and trust that the Lord who heals is at work even when you can't see it yet. He has never stopped being who He said He is.
Sometimes His healing comes as restoration, and sometimes it comes as strength to endure. Either way, you are held by the One who made your body and knows every cell of it. You can bring your pain to Him without pretending you're fine.
Dear Lord, thank You that You are the God who heals. Help me to listen for Your voice each day and to follow You in the small, ordinary choices of my life. I place my health, my heart, and my loved ones in Your healing hands today. Amen.
