Loving your wife as yourself simply means treating her needs with the same care you give your own. You notice right away when you're tired, hungry, or discouraged. So today, pay that same kind of attention to her. Real love starts with simply noticing.
Make it practical by asking a few honest questions each day. Is she carrying stress I haven't acknowledged? When did I last ask about her heart instead of just the schedule? Often the most loving thing you can do is listen without rushing to fix anything.
Love also shows up in small choices. Put your phone down when she's talking. Take a task off her plate without being asked. Speak to her with the same warmth and courtesy you would offer a good friend, even on the busy days.
Remember, this kind of love is not a feeling you wait around for. It is a decision you make daily, especially when it would be easier to withdraw. If things feel distant in your marriage, don't wait for it to improve before you start loving. Love is what leads the way home.
