Paul is calling us to a life that looks different from the world around us. He isn't just saying avoid big sins — he's saying don't even let them become normal in your life or conversation. That's a high standard, but it comes with a beautiful identity: you are a saint, set apart for God.
So what does that look like today? Start with what you feed your eyes and mind. The shows you stream, the accounts you scroll, the jokes you laugh at — small compromises slowly dull our sensitivity. Ask yourself honestly: is this drawing me closer to God or pulling me away?
This verse also connects greed with impurity, and that's no accident. Covetousness is the heart saying "I need more," and that same restless craving can lead us into all kinds of compromise. Gratitude is the cure. Thank God daily for what you have, and discontentment loses its grip.
And when you do stumble — because we all do — don't hide in shame. Run to God quickly. He doesn't love you less; He stands ready to forgive, cleanse, and strengthen you to walk forward in purity.
Living clean in a messy world isn't about willpower. It's about staying close to Jesus, moment by moment, and letting His Spirit shape what you desire.
Dear Lord, keep my heart, my eyes, and my desires pure before You. Help me to be content with what You've given me and quick to turn back to You when I fall. Make my life reflect that I belong to You. Amen.
