We all get filled with something. At the end of a hard day, most of us reach for something to take the edge off — a drink, our phones, food, or another episode of a show. Paul's real question isn't just about what we drink, but what we let control us from the inside out.
Ephesians 5:18

Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit
Notice the contrast: one path leads to wasted days, the other to real power. Being filled with the Spirit isn't a one-time event you check off a list. It's a daily, moment-by-moment choice to let God's presence fill the space that other things keep trying to occupy.
So this week, pay attention to what you run to when you feel empty, stressed, or tired. When you catch yourself reaching for your usual escape, pause and pray a simple prayer: 'Lord, fill me right now.' Play worship music while you cook dinner. Read one verse before you open your phone in the morning.
The Spirit's filling gives you power you can't manufacture on your own — power to forgive someone who hurt you, to speak kindly when you're frustrated, and to keep going when life wears you down. Don't settle for numbing yourself when God is offering to strengthen you. Ask boldly, because He loves to answer that prayer.
Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I've tried to fill myself with things that leave me empty. Fill me with Your Spirit today and give me Your power to live well. In Jesus' name, Amen.
