Ephesians 4:31

Shared devotional content from the common study platform.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.

Ephesians 4:31 · Forgiveness
Reflection 1

Resentment rarely announces itself. It usually starts with one hurtful word, one broken promise, one moment that caught us off guard. Left alone, it grows roots, and before we know it, we're carrying a weight we were never meant to hold.

Reflection 2

Today, pay attention to what your reactions are telling you. When a certain person's name makes your jaw tighten, or an old memory still stings, that's not just a bad mood, that's bitterness asking to be dealt with. Naming it honestly is the first step to letting it go.

Reflection 3

Practical steps matter here. Instead of replaying the offense or retelling it to anyone who will listen, take it straight to God. Say it plainly in prayer: this hurt me, and I'm choosing to release it. You may have to say that more than once, and that's okay.

Reflection 4

Letting go of anger isn't pretending the hurt never happened. It's refusing to let the hurt keep living in you rent-free. Each time you choose release over resentment, you make room for the peace God wants to fill you with.

Prayer

Dear Lord, You know the places where I'm still holding on to hurt. Help me release my bitterness and anger into Your hands today, and fill that empty space with Your peace. Amen.
