We live in a world where everything has to be earned. You work for your paycheck, study for your grades, and prove yourself to gain people's respect. So it can feel almost too good to be true that God's love isn't something you buy or work off. His salvation is a gift—freely given, no strings attached.
That means you can stop performing for God's approval. You don't have to earn your way into His good graces, and you can't lose His love by having a bad day. When you mess up, you don't need to hide from Him or punish yourself—just come back, knowing the door is already open.
Faith is simply receiving the gift. Think about how you accept a birthday present—you don't pay for it or promise to repay it; you just say thank you and take it. That's what trusting God looks like in everyday life: admitting your need and accepting what He has already done for you.
Living in grace changes how you treat others, too. Today, look for one way to pass the gift along—forgive someone who hasn't apologized, show kindness to someone who can't repay you, or drop a grudge you've been carrying. You give freely because you received freely.
Dear Lord, thank You that Your love is a gift and not a wage I have to earn. Help me rest in Your grace today and extend that same grace to the people around me. Amen.
