What comes out of our mouths says a lot about what's going on in our hearts. Wisdom isn't just about knowing the right thing to say—it's about saying it the right way. A wise person's words carry kindness, even when they're honest or corrective.

The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious
Think about your conversations today: at the breakfast table, in a work meeting, in a text message, or in a comment section. Every one of them is a chance to speak with grace. Gracious words don't just avoid harm—they actually build people up.
This isn't about being fake or never speaking hard truths. It's about how we say what we say. The same honest message can wound or heal depending on our tone and timing, and pausing for a moment before responding—especially when we're tired, irritated, or provoked—often makes all the difference.
Try this today: before you speak, ask yourself one quick question—'Will this bring grace or grief?' If you're not sure, it's okay to say less. A few gracious words will do far more good than a mouthful of clever ones.
Father, set a guard over my mouth and fill my heart with Your kindness today. Help everything I say to bring grace to the people around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
