Daniel 9:9

Daniel didn't soft-pedal the problem. He called it what it was—rebellion against God—and he prayed from a place of honest confession. Most of us do the opposite. We excuse our failures, blame our circumstances, or pretend we're doing better than we are.

But notice where Daniel's honesty led him: straight to God's mercy. He didn't say we deserved forgiveness. He said mercy belongs to the Lord, because forgiveness flows from who God is, not from how well we behave.

That's freeing news for today. Maybe you're carrying guilt over something you did last week or twenty years ago. Stop trying to pay it off. Bring it into the open with God, name it honestly like Daniel did, and receive the mercy He is waiting to give.

Then let that mercy shape how you treat others. If God forgave your rebellion, you can forgive the person who wronged you. Ask Him today for the grace to release one grudge you've been holding onto.

Dear Lord, thank You that Your mercy doesn't depend on my performance. I bring my failures to You honestly today and receive Your forgiveness. Help me extend that same grace to someone who has hurt me. Amen.
