Daniel 9:8

We are experts at making excuses. When we mess up, we blame our upbringing, our stress, our spouse, or our circumstances. Daniel shows us a better way: he simply said, we sinned, full stop. No spin, no shifting the blame.

That kind of honesty feels risky, but it is actually the doorway to freedom. Hiding our mess keeps us stuck in it, while naming it opens the door to God's grace. Shame says 'stay away'; confession says 'come home.'

Try this today: get quiet for a few minutes and ask God to show you where you have drifted from Him. Don't rush past what He shows you, and don't soften it with a 'but.' Just say it plainly. He already knows everything, yet something changes in us when we admit it out loud.

Here is the good news: God never exposes our sin to crush us, only to heal us. Confession is where mercy meets us, not where rejection waits. When we stop covering up, He starts cleaning up.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the excuses I make and the sin I try to hide. Give me the courage to be honest with You today. Thank You that Your mercy meets me the moment I come clean. Amen.
