Daniel 1:17

Daniel was a young man in a foreign land, surrounded by a culture that didn't honor God, yet God gave him wisdom that stood out. That's good news for us. No matter where you find yourself—a tough workplace, a difficult school, an unfamiliar season—God can give you understanding right there.

Notice that wisdom in this verse isn't just about spiritual things. God gave Daniel and his friends knowledge and skill for real, everyday work. Your job, your studies, your responsibilities at home—these matter to God, and He wants to help you handle them well.

Here's the practical part: Daniel and his friends still had to study and do the work. God's wisdom didn't replace their effort; it empowered it. So show up prepared, do your best, and then ask God to do what you can't—give you insight, discernment, and understanding beyond your own ability.

If you're facing a decision today or a problem you can't figure out, don't white-knuckle it alone. Pause and simply ask God for wisdom. He loves to give it, and He often does it in the middle of ordinary, everyday life.

Father, thank You that You are the source of all wisdom and understanding. Fill me with knowledge and skill for the work in front of me today, and help me trust You with what I don't know. In Jesus' name, Amen.
