When Peter stood up that day, he wasn't giving a gentle suggestion. He was sounding an alarm. The world around his listeners had its own values, its own priorities, its own way of living, and Peter knew those things would quietly pull them away from God if they weren't careful. That warning is just as real for us today.
Think about what shapes your thinking every day. The news feed, the shows, the conversations, the constant noise, all of it is teaching you something. Without even noticing, we start wanting what the world wants and worrying about what the world worries about. What you focus on slowly becomes who you are.
So saving yourself starts with small, deliberate choices. Open your Bible before you open your phone. Pray before the day's noise rushes in. When a habit or a voice keeps pulling you toward fear, bitterness, or compromise, name it and step away from it, even if it costs you something.
And remember, you were never meant to do this alone. The people who heard Peter that day didn't just walk away individually; they devoted themselves to growing together. Find people who love Jesus and let them speak into your life. Staying focused is much easier when you're not fighting alone.
Today, ask yourself one honest question: what has my attention been fixed on lately? Then make one small change to turn your eyes back to Jesus. He is worth your focus, and He will meet you the moment you turn toward Him.
Father, forgive me for the times I've let the world set my priorities instead of You. Help me turn away from anything that pulls my heart away from You, and fix my eyes on Jesus today. Amen.
