We often chase joy in things that fade—a better mood, good news, an easier week. But real gladness has a source, and that source is God Himself. Joy isn't something we have to manufacture; it's something we receive when we draw near to Him.
The good news is that God doesn't hide the path to a full life. He makes it known through His Word, through quiet moments of prayer, and through the gentle nudges of His Spirit. Every time you open the Bible or pause to talk with Him, you're walking in those ways of life.
So what does this look like on an ordinary day? Try this: before you check your phone in the morning, take two minutes to thank God for one specific thing. Later, during a break or a commute, simply remember that He is with you right there—in the traffic, the emails, the dishes.
And when joy feels thin, don't just wait for your circumstances to improve. Lean into His presence a little more—play a worship song, whisper a prayer, or sit quietly with Him for a few minutes. Gladness grows in that space, because He promised to fill it.
Father, thank You for showing me the way to real and lasting life in You. Draw me into Your presence today, and fill my heart with a gladness that doesn't depend on my circumstances. Amen.
