2 Timothy 2:7

Paul told Timothy to do two things: think it over, and trust God for understanding. Notice that understanding wasn't automatic. It came when Timothy took time to slow down and really chew on what he'd been taught. That's still how it works for us today.

Most of us rush through our days, and we rush through God's Word the same way. We read a chapter, close the Bible, and move on. But wisdom grows in the pause. Try taking just one truth from what you read or heard this week and sitting with it. Ask simple questions: What does this mean for my choices today? How would this change how I treat my family or my coworkers?

Here's the good news in this verse: you're not figuring out life alone. Your part is to reflect and consider. God's part is to give the light you can't produce on your own. That takes the pressure off. You don't need to be brilliant, just willing to think and ask.

So today, carry one thing with you. Write a single verse on a card, or type it in your phone, and come back to it at lunch and before bed. Understanding often arrives quietly, in the middle of an ordinary day, when you've made room for it.

Father, thank You that understanding is Your gift, not something I have to earn. Help me slow down long enough to really think about Your Word today. Give me insight in the things that matter, and make me quick to obey what You show me. Amen.
