Fear has a sneaky way of showing up in ordinary moments. It's there before the difficult conversation, the big decision, or the new opportunity. Left alone, it keeps us stuck, replaying every worst-case scenario in our minds.

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
But here's the good news: fear is not your inheritance as a believer. God has given you His Spirit, and that Spirit produces power, love, and self-control. That means courage isn't something you have to drum up on your own — it's something you receive.
So what does that look like today? Power means taking the next small step: make the phone call, have the honest talk, show up even when your hands are shaking. You don't need to conquer everything at once. Just do the one brave thing in front of you.
Love also pushes back fear. Fear makes us protective and withdrawn, but love moves us toward people — checking on a friend, forgiving someone, serving when it's inconvenient. And self-control means catching fearful thoughts before they spiral, replacing them with God's truth instead of every 'what if.'
Take a moment right now to name one fear you've been carrying. Then ask God for one simple step of courage you can take today, and take it. He didn't give you a spirit of fear — so don't let fear make your decisions for you.
Dear Lord, thank You that fear doesn't get the final word in my life. Fill me today with Your power, Your love, and a steady, disciplined mind so I can walk boldly into whatever this day holds. In Jesus' name, Amen.
