The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Waiting is hard. Maybe you've been praying about something for months, or even years, and nothing has changed yet. It's easy to wonder if God forgot about you. But this verse reminds us that God isn't slow—He's patient, and there's a big difference between the two.
God's delays are actually mercy in motion. Every day we call a delay is another day He's giving someone the chance to turn to Him. That includes the people on your heart right now—your son who's wandered away, your coworker who thinks faith is a joke, your neighbor who's never stepped inside a church. God is holding the door open for them.
So how do you live this out today? Instead of getting frustrated while you wait, put that waiting to work. Pray for those people by name. Have the conversation you've been putting off. Show a little kindness that points them toward Jesus. Your patience can become the very thing God uses to reach them.
And remember—God has been patient with you, too. If He had run on our timetable, most of us wouldn't be here today. Leting that truth sink in keeps us humble, hopeful, and willing to endure the wait.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your patience with me, even when I don't deserve it. Help me trust Your timing instead of complaining about it, and use my waiting to pray for the people You love who don't know You yet. Amen.
