It's easy to slip into trying to manage other people's faith. We correct, compare, and quietly pressure the people around us to believe the way we do. But this verse reminds us that faith isn't something we control in anyone, not even ourselves by sheer willpower.
What we can do is work alongside each other for joy. That's a beautiful picture: not a boss and an employee, but partners on the same team. Your job isn't to push people toward God; it's to make the walk with God sweeter for them.
So today, ask yourself a simple question: who can I bring joy to in their faith? Maybe it's a text that says you're praying for them, a listening ear over coffee, or an honest word about how God has been faithful to you. Small things like that are real kingdom work.
And notice how joy and standing firm go together. Faith gripped with clenched fists gets heavy and brittle. Faith shared with gladness gets stronger, for you and for the person next to you.
This also frees you from carrying weight that was never yours. You can love people deeply without bearing the burden of their spiritual outcome. God holds that, and He's very good at it.
Dear Lord, thank You that I don't have to control anyone's faith, not even my own. Help me today to be a fellow worker for joy, lifting someone up instead of weighing them down. Make my presence a reason someone stands a little firmer in You. Amen.
