Paul opens this letter knowing exactly who he is and why. He didn't earn his place, and his past certainly didn't qualify him. God called him, and that was enough. If you've ever felt unqualified or defined by your worst moments, take heart: your identity comes from God's call on your life, not your track record.
Notice how Paul describes Jesus: our hope. Hope isn't a vague feeling that things might work out. Hope is a Person who never changes, never leaves, and never breaks a promise. When your job security, your health, or even people you love let you down, you still have an anchor that holds.
So how do you live this out today? When worry creeps in about your finances, your kids, or your future, pause and say it out loud: my hope is in Christ, not in my circumstances. That's not just positive thinking. It's redirecting your heart to something solid when everything else feels shaky.
And don't keep this hope to yourself. Someone around you today is running on empty, quietly wondering if things will ever get better. A kind word, a text, or a simple 'I'm praying for you' might be exactly how God reminds them that hope is real and His name is Jesus.
Dear Lord, thank You that my hope doesn't depend on my performance or my circumstances, but on Your Son. Help me remember today who I am in You, and give me the courage to share that hope with someone who needs it. Amen.
