Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

1 Peter 5:6 · Humility
Reflection 1

Humility isn't thinking less of yourself—it's handing control of your life back to God. Peter wrote these words to believers who were hurting and waiting, and his advice was simple: stop trying to carry everything on your own. God's hand is mighty. It can hold what you can't.

Reflection 2

In real life, humility shows up in small daily choices. It's doing excellent work without needing credit. It's letting someone else be right, serving where nobody notices, or saying 'I was wrong' without defending yourself. None of these feel glamorous, but each one places you under God's caring hand.

Reflection 3

The hard part is the waiting. 'In due time' means God's timing, not ours. Maybe you've been overlooked at work, passed over, or your faithfulness has gone unnoticed. Humility trusts that God sees everything, and He is never late.

Reflection 4

So today, stop striving to lift yourself up. Place your plans, your reputation, and your future into God's hands and leave them there. What you surrender to Him, He is able to raise up at exactly the right moment.

Prayer

Father, today I let go of my need to prove myself. Teach me to trust Your timing and rest under Your mighty hand. Thank You that You see me and will lift me up in Your perfect time. Amen.
