Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

1 Peter 4:12 · Endurance
Reflection 1

Have you ever had a hard season hit and thought, "Wait, what did I do wrong? Why is this happening to me?" Peter wrote to believers who felt exactly that way. His word to them — and to us — is simple: don't be caught off guard. Difficulty is not a sign that God has forgotten you or that your faith is broken.

Reflection 2

We live in a world where things break, people get sick, jobs disappear, and relationships strain. Jesus never promised us a pain-free life; He promised He would never leave us in it. So when the heat turns up, you don't have to panic or scramble for explanations. You can rest knowing the fire has a purpose.

Reflection 3

Here's a practical shift you can make today: instead of asking "Why me?" try asking "What are You building in me, Lord?" Trials have a way of burning off what doesn't matter and strengthening what does — patience, humility, deeper trust. That reframe won't make the pain vanish, but it will keep you from bitterness.

Reflection 4

And don't walk through it alone. Call that friend who prays. Open your Bible even when you don't feel like it. Keep showing up, one faithful day at a time, and let God meet you in the middle of the fire — not just after it ends.

Reflection 5

Endurance isn't gritting your teeth until it's over. It's leaning on a God who walks through the flames with you. Whatever you're facing right now, you are not strange, abandoned, or forgotten.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I've been shocked by hardship and wondered if You'd left my side. Help me trust that You are working in this trial, and give me the strength to endure with hope. I choose to lean on You today. Amen.
