1 Peter 2:2 · Focus
Reflection 1

A newborn baby doesn't need to be reminded to want milk. It cries for it, reaches for it, and won't be satisfied with anything else. That's the kind of hunger Peter is describing — not a casual interest in God's Word, but a real need for it, the way your body needs food.

Reflection 2

Here's a simple test for today: what do you reach for first? For most of us it's the phone — notifications, headlines, messages. Try flipping that order for one week. Open Scripture before you open your apps, even if it's just five verses. You'll be surprised how your appetite shifts when you feed it.

Reflection 3

Babies also eat often. No one grows strong on one big meal a month, and the same is true for your soul. Small, consistent portions of God's Word every day will do far more in you than an occasional long devotional session. Aim for faithfulness, not perfection.

Reflection 4

Finally, notice the goal: growth. God's Word isn't just information to collect — it's nourishment that changes you. Stay in it long enough and you'll start to see it: more patience with your family, more peace under pressure, more clarity when decisions come. That's the milk doing its work.

Reflection 5

So today, guard your focus. Cut back on the noise that dulls your appetite — the endless scrolling, the background chatter — and make room for what is pure. Hunger grows where you feed it.

Prayer

Dear Lord, give me the same hunger for Your Word that a baby has for milk. Help me come to You daily, put down the distractions, and let Your truth nourish and change me. Amen.
