1 Peter 1:22

There's a big difference between being friendly and truly loving someone. We can smile, shake hands, and still keep people at a safe distance. Peter calls us to something deeper: love that is real, with no pretense and no hidden agendas.

Notice that this kind of love takes effort. The word 'fervently' paints a picture of love that stretches itself out — love that shows up, follows through, and doesn't quit when someone is hard to love. Genuine love is not a feeling that happens to us; it's a choice we make on purpose.

So here's a practical step for today: think of one specific person God places on your heart. Maybe someone who's lonely, someone who's struggling, or maybe someone who has hurt you. Then do something about it — send the text, make the call, offer the apology, or simply show up.

And remember, you can love openly because God has already cleaned your heart. You don't have to guard yourself or keep score. A heart made clean by God is free to pour itself out for others, without fear of running dry.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me first and making my heart clean. Help me love people sincerely today — not just with words, but with real action and genuine care. Give me the courage to love even when it costs me something. Amen.
