1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 · Love
Reflection 1

We all carry fear around with us. Fear of failing, fear of being rejected, fear of what tomorrow might bring. It whispers that we're not enough and that something bad is always just around the corner.

Reflection 2

But God offers us a different way to live. His love for us is complete and unconditional, and when we really settle into that truth, fear starts to lose its grip. Fear thrives on the idea that we have to earn our worth, but God's love says we already have it.

Reflection 3

So how do you live this out today? When fear rises up, don't fight it with willpower, run to God's love instead. Tell Him exactly what you're afraid of, and then remind yourself out loud that you are fully loved and fully accepted by Him, no matter what happens.

Reflection 4

It also works the other way around. When you focus on loving the people around you, fear of them fades too. It's hard to be scared of someone you're actively praying for and caring about.

Reflection 5

Today, choose love over fear in one small, concrete way. Maybe it's an honest conversation you've been avoiding, or a kind act for someone who intimidates you. Every step taken in love is a step away from fear.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You that Your perfect love is bigger than every fear I carry. Help me run to Your love when I'm afraid, and give me the courage to love others boldly today. Amen.
