Real love isn't just a warm feeling or a kind word. Jesus didn't simply tell us He loved us, He proved it at the highest possible cost. That's the standard we're invited to follow, and it changes how we think about loving people.

For most of us, laying down our life won't mean dying for someone. It usually looks smaller and more ordinary: giving up your evening to help a neighbor, really listening when a friend is hurting, or forgiving someone even though it costs you something.

Think of one person in your life who needs love today. Maybe it's someone inconvenient, someone who's tested your patience, or someone everyone else has overlooked. Love usually asks us to set aside our comfort, our schedule, or our pride to reach them.

So start small, but start today. A phone call, a meal, an apology, showing up when it would be easier to stay home. When you sacrifice for someone in Jesus' name, they get a glimpse of His love through you, and no act like that is ever wasted.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me in a way that cost You everything. Help me lay down my time, comfort, and pride for someone today. Let my small sacrifices point people straight to Your great love. Amen.
