Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.

1 John 2:15 · Focus
Reflection 1

John isn't telling us to hate the beach, good food, or the people around us. The "world" he warns about is a mindset—a way of living that pushes God to the side and chases things like money, status, and pleasure as if they could satisfy our souls. It's a heart issue, not a list of forbidden activities.

Reflection 2

So here's an honest question: what has your attention lately? What's the first thing you reach for in the morning, the thing you daydream about, the purchase you keep thinking about? Sometimes the loudest clue to what we love is simply what we keep going back to.

Reflection 3

Try a small experiment today. Before you make your next purchase, pause and ask God, "Is this filling a space only You can fill?" When you feel that pull to impress someone or compare yourself online, take one deep breath and redirect that energy—send an encouraging message to a friend or say a quick prayer instead.

Reflection 4

This isn't about living a joyless life with clenched fists. It's actually the opposite. When God's love fills your heart, the world's promises lose their grip, and you start to see how much better He is. Real satisfaction was never on sale at the store or on your screen—it was in the Father's love all along.

Prayer

Dear Lord, show me where my heart has been drifting toward things that can't truly satisfy. Help me loosen my grip on the world and hold tightly to Your love instead. Fill the empty spaces in my life with more of You. Amen.
