You were bought with a price. Don’t become bondservants of men.
Most of us would never choose slavery, yet we drift into it one small yes at a time. We bend our lives around a boss's approval, a family member's expectations, or what people might think if we post, speak, or live differently. Without noticing it, other people's opinions start signing our schedule and steering our choices.
But your worth was settled long before anyone else weighed in. Jesus paid for you with His own life, and that price fixed your value forever. When you truly believe what you cost, you stop auditioning for acceptance you already have.
Try this today: notice the moments you feel that pull to please, perform, or compare. Before you say yes out of guilt or stay quiet out of fear, pause and ask yourself a simple question, 'Am I serving God right now, or serving someone's opinion of me?' That one honest question can break a habit you've carried for years.
This doesn't mean being difficult or refusing to serve people. You can honor your boss, love your family, and show up faithfully, while remembering that only God gets the final word on who you are. Serve people freely, not slavishly, because your identity is anchored in the One who bought you.
Living this way takes practice, and you will catch yourself slipping sometimes. That's okay. Each time you choose God's approval over human applause, your focus sharpens and your feet stand a little firmer.
Father, thank You for paying the highest price to make me Yours. Help me today to live for Your approval alone and to serve the people around me freely, not out of fear. Keep my focus on You. Amen.
