No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Everyone gets tempted. That moment of weakness you're ashamed of or that struggle you think makes you the only one—someone else has stood in that exact same spot. Knowing this should lift the weight of shame off your shoulders, because you're not broken or uniquely bad. You're human, and every believer before you has fought this same battle.
Here's the promise you can hold onto: God is watching the scale. He knows your limits better than you do, and He will never let you face more than you can handle with His help. When temptation feels unbearable, that's not a sign that God failed you—it's a signal to lean on Him instead of your own strength.
The verse also promises a way out, and usually that escape route is practical. It might be leaving the conversation, putting the phone down, logging off, or calling a friend who will pray with you. The exit door is always there, but you have to actually walk through it. Ask God to open your eyes to it before the pressure peaks.
Faith grows every time you take that escape route. Each small choice to say no to temptation and yes to God builds spiritual muscle you'll lean on tomorrow. You don't have to win the whole war in one day—just take the next right step, and trust that God is faithful to carry you through it.
Father, thank You that I never face temptation alone and never beyond Your grace. Open my eyes to the way of escape You provide, and give me the courage to take it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
