1 Chronicles 16:27

Most of us hunt for joy in our circumstances — a good day at work, a clean bill of health, a kind word from someone we love. But those things shift like weather. This verse points us somewhere steadier: real gladness isn't scattered around life at random. It lives in one place, and that place is God's presence.

Notice that strength and gladness sit together in Him. That matters, because some days we show up tired, discouraged, or running on empty. God doesn't require us to fake a smile before we come to Him. He offers both — the strength to keep going and the deep cheer that circumstances can't steal.

So here's a practical step for today: before you reach for your phone or rush into your to-do list, pause for even five minutes with God. Read a psalm, whisper a prayer, or simply sit quietly and thank Him for three specific things. You're not just checking a spiritual box — you're stepping into the very place where joy lives.

Then carry what you found into ordinary moments. Let that gladness show up in your patience with your kids, your kindness to a coworker, or your calm in traffic. Joy wasn't meant to stay in your quiet time; it was meant to spill out into the rest of your day.

Dear Lord, thank You that true gladness isn't found in my circumstances but in Your presence. Draw me close to You today, and let Your joy and strength carry me through every ordinary moment. Amen.
