Seeking God is not a one-time event. It is a daily choice, like watering a plant or checking in with someone you love. If you want a pure heart, pay attention to what you are pursuing first, because whatever you chase the most will shape who you become.
Try this: before you pick up your phone tomorrow morning, give God the first minute of your day. A short prayer, a few verses, or even a simple 'Lord, I need You today' sets the direction of your heart. What you seek first has a way of ordering everything else.
This verse also reminds us that we do not have to live on our own strength. Purity is not about gritting your teeth and white-knuckling your way through temptation. When you feel weak or pulled toward something you know is wrong, that is the moment to turn to God, ask for His help, and step away from the situation.
And when you stumble, do not run and hide. Keep coming back to Him, again and again, without giving up. A clean heart is not kept by distance from God but by closeness to Him, because the more time you spend in His presence, the less room there is for anything else.
Father, help me seek You first in everything I do today. When I am weak, remind me that Your strength is only one honest prayer away. Keep my heart clean by keeping it close to You. Amen.
